To understand how surgical procedures aid the grossly overweight
person to reduce their body fat, it helps to first understand
the digestive process that is responsible for handling the food
we take in.
Once food is chewed and swallowed, it's on its way through the
digestive tract, where enzymes and digestive juices will break
it down and allow our systems to absorb the nutrients and
calories. In the stomach, which can hold up to three pints of
material, the breakdown continues with the help of ...

How can sleep deprivation affect weight loss? Surely the reverse
is true! If we're tossing and turning all night, aren't we
burning a few more kilojoules?
Perhaps, but it's more complicated than that. When we don't have
enough sleep, our energy is very low. This can trick the brain
into thinking it requires more food to replenish our energy
stores.
So we tend to eat more. Not only that we tend to crave high
energy foods such as ice cream, cakes or sugar laden soft ...

There are a couple of reasons why most people fail in their
attempt to gain more muscle mass:
A. Improper diet.
Most people are not eating enough protein and eating too many
simple carbs.
They are not stressing their muscles during each workout. You
don't have to kill yourself, but you must subject your body to
out of the ordinary stress each workout to grow muscle.
B. They lack consistency.
They do not stay focused throughout the entire 12-week period.
If they don't see results ...

Weight loss...if we could just find the right diet we would
achieve our goals, right? The sad truth is that weight loss
diets, for the most part, don't work and are becoming a thing of
the past. Research shows that 85-95% of dieters regain any
weight they've lost within 3-5 years. Most diets simply dictate
what to eat and how much, and usually don't teach us to make
better food choices once we go off. When we go back to our old
habits the weight comes back and we end up in a constant battle
to ...

A typical strength training program for weight gain all almost
always includes compound free weight lifts like squats, bench
press, shoulder press, pull-ups (wide grip), and dips. The
amount of weight used for each, the amount of reps, and the
frequency of training, will obviously be customized to suit your
body type, current strength, and strength training goals.
It's also important to note is that training too often is both
dangerous and counter-productive. More training does not equal
more ...

If you know someone that has been trying to lose weight and get
into shape, you have probably heard words such as, "I just eat
one meal a day to lose weight" or "I'm afraid if I eat, I'll
gain weight" but sadly, this misnomer is why so many people are
in the "battle of the bulge". People all over the world still
believe that eating breakfast, or even three meals a day will
cause them to gain weight. In truth, as long as they are eating
the right types of foods and exercising, then three normal ...

I wonder how much it is generally known that the benefits of
using herbs and spices can speed up your weight loss efforts, by
quite a considerable amount actually.
We all know that herbs and spices are used with cooking to
varying degrees, and of course the primary reason for doing so
is to make food much more tasty and interesting.
I suspect however that you might be surprised at the
considerable health benefits that can also be gained by using
them. In saying this I am referring to those ...

I wonder how many people have purchased a nice bike with good
intentions of riding several times per week only to find their
schedule is too hectic to fit it in. Dust off that old bike! Now
you can ride your bike in your home on your schedule!
I love mountain biking but as winter rolls around I could easily
find myself getting lazy in my cardiovascular routines - only to
suffer next spring with weight gain and decreased work capacity.
This year I decided to purchase a trainer - Wow! What a ...
